Sonia Navot

Twenty years old Sonia Navot started playing the cello at the age of 4, taking lessons with Maayan Matityahu, continuing with Hila Karni and Zvi Plesser and today she is studying at the Buchman Mehta school of music with Eanuele Silvestri. She is also studying the baroque cello with Myrna Herzog.  Sonia started playing the viola da gamba at the age of 9 under the tutelage of Amit Tiefenbrunn. 

Sonia has been the recipient of the America Israel Culture Foundation Scholarship for cello and viola da gamba continuously since the age of 10. In 2014 she was invited to play two recitals in a series organized by the America-Israel Cultural Foundation. She participated the The David Goldman Program for Outstanding Young Musicians at the Jerusalem music center, and The Young Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra in the years 2010 - 2014. 

In the summer of 2012, and in the summer of 2015 Sonia took part in a course of the Zeist Music Festival in Holland. In 2014 she participated a special residency of the Perlman Music Program in Israel where she had master classes with Mr Poul Katz. In 2015 sonia got accepted to the Tedarim Project, where she plays contemporary music on a regular base.

Sonia has been a member of the PHOENIX ensemble since 2012, as a viola da gamba and baroque cello player. She is a regular member of the Barrocade Ensemble and has played together with some of the best musicians and conductors in the Baroque world, such as Kati Debretzeni, Matthew Halls, Shalev Ad-el and Patrick Cohen Akenine.
