Alexandra Polin viola da gamba
Alexandra Polin was born in Moscow in 1982 and immigrated to Israel in 1991. She began her piano studies at the age of 5 under the guidance of her Grandmother. Alexandra continued her musical studies at the recorder with her mother Ganit Polin and Ilana Bar Shalom. At the age of 13 began to learn the cello with prof. Shmuel Magen at the Giv’ataym Conservatory, and in 2005, she started viola da gamba studies with Amit Tiefenbrunn.
Alexandra graduated from the Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts and is currently finishing her first degree at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance as Tiefenbrunn’s student. Alexandra participated in master classes with Jonathan Manson, Rainer Zipperling and Viola de Hoog.
In 2008, she received a scholarship from Erasmus Mundus External Cooperation window programme and studied at the Royal Conservatory with Philippe Pierlot in Brussels. She is a recipient of the America-Israel cultural foundation since 2006 and in 2007 won the 1st prize in chamber music competition of the Jerusalem Music Academy.
She recorded various chamber music programs for the radio and took part in earlyMusic festivals such as Yehiam, Appolonia, Beit Guvrin and Varazdin – Baroque Evenings. Alexandra is a member of Ensemble PHOENIX, of the Barrocade ensemble and has performed with the Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra.
